Taitech, Inc. supports the Air Force Research Laboratory, Wright-Patterson AFB, OH in their development of technologies for advanced propulsion concepts for future Air Force high speed missiles and aircraft. The current focus is on advanced research and development of hydrocarbon Scramjets. To achieve this goal, a water-cooled, variable geometry Scramjet flow path is currently being developed for operation in Test Cell 22. The flow path, or Scramjet wind tunnel, simulates Mach 4-8 flight conditions and will be used for development of state-of-the art Scramjet and other advanced cycle technologies for regeneratively-cooled hydrocarbon-fueled missiles. These efforts are to define and formulate important solutions to critical technical gaps between system performance and analysis. Future developments may include other advanced cycle technologies such as PDE (Pulse Detonation Engine), Combined Cycle Engines, and Advanced Ramjets. In addition, innovative combustion, mixing, and injection concepts and designs are developed from fundamental and applied research and analysis programs using test rigs Air Force Research Laboratory test facilities in Test Cells 18 and 19. These test facilities are used to study and investigate combustion mixing, pulse-combustion, ducted rocket combustion flows, and supersonic cold-flows. New designs and concepts are also studied and analyzed using advanced CFD analysis codes and by using advanced laser diagnostic tools developed especially for analysis of high speed fluid flows. Successful ideas and concepts then transition to flight simulated hot-flow test conditions in Test cell 22 for further evaluation and study.
